The music included in this album is not significantly different from Iran’s Kurdish folk music except in rhythm and melody,” ensemble director Hushang Kamkar told MNA.
The pieces are inspired by Iraqi Kurdish music, which has greater similarity to Arab and Turkish music, and can be differentiated from Iranian folk music, he added.
Kamkars Ensemble is one of the best musical groups in Iran that dominates over traditional Iranian music and Kurdish music, and also has a good working knowledge of the communalities between the two, Karim told MNA.
“We had a joint performance entitled ‘Emshow’ and now I am really happy to once again collaberate with Kamkars,” he said.
“Kamkars is always meticulous about selecting a vocalist. We had performed a joint concert with Karim two years ago and after that, we listened to some of his other works.
“Then, we decided to produce a joint album in Iraq’s Kurdistan. We are in the final stages and we are planning to record his voice at the Raha Studio,” Hushang Kamkar mentioned.
He went on to say that the music is composed by Hushang, Ardeshir and Ardavan Kamkar. Karim and Kamkars plan to perform tracks from the album in Iraq’s Kurdistan, Iran and also in European countries.
