South Asian Film Festival to screen Iranian films
TEHRAN, June 16 (MNA) -- A selection of Iranian films will be taking part in the special screening section of the fourth South Asian Film Festival opening in Goa, India on June 26.

More than 50 films entered from eight SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries. They include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka focusing on the central theme “dissolving boundaries.”

“Films are the single most effective medium for improving communication and cooperation within the South Asian region,” Rahul Barua, secretary general of the South Asia Foundation said in a statement.

He added that Iran’s film review section has been arranged by the Iranian Young Cinema Society and the South Asia Foundation. The films “Empty Fishbowl,” “Life, War, and Nothing Else,” “Image of a Dream,” “Dance of Love,” “Iranian Market,” and “Come, Everybody is Asleep” are among the Iranian entries.

The films have been chosen by two separate committees and have been divided into four categories of classic, short, documentary and mainstream.

A seminar has also been arranged on Indian Cinema and South Asia with the participation of directors and actors from the SAARC countries.
