Ferdowsi Foundation to publish two books on Shahnameh
TEHRAN, March 4 (MNA) -- Iran’s Ferdowsi Foundation will publish two books, entitled “Secrets of the Shahnameh” and “Oriental Texts, Western Methods”, in the near future.

“Secrets of Shahnameh” contains several reviews by 20 experts on Shahnameh on the registration of the Shahnameh millennium on UNESCO’s 2010 calendar of events, general secretary of the foundation Yaser Movahhedfar told the Persian service of Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) on Friday.

Collected by Movahhedfar, the entire book reveals a new outlook on Ferdowsi’s magnum opus Shahnameh and will soon be distributed by Pazineh Publications.

“The book contains an article by scholar Mohammad-Ali Eslami Nadushan, which reviews some of the characters in Shahnameh. Author and researcher, Mir-Jalaleddin Kazzazi , has studied the mysterious figures and their roles in Shahnameh.

“It also contains articles by several other scholars, including Nosratollah Rastegar, Azizollah Joveini, Ahmad Vakili and Esmaeil Dowlatshahi,” he said.

“Oriental Texts, Western Methods”, an article written by researcher, Mahmud Amirsalar, was submitted to the University of Cambridge. The Persian translation by Miras-e Maktub Publications has been published in Iran.

“The book studies the wrong attitude of some of the Western orientalists who have compared Shahnameh with texts from medieval times,” Movahhedfar said.

“Oriental Texts, Western Methods” will be available at Tehran’s International Book Fair in May.
